White Paper by The Association for the Treatment
The Center For Family Development adheres to a variety of standards and positions papers that all recommend avoiding coercion. However, none of these practice standards actually define what is and what is not coercion in the treatment, and in particular, in the treatment of children who have histories of chronic early maltreatment within a caregiving relationship. This White Paper by The Association for the Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children does an excellent job of defining what is and what is not coercion. The Center fully endorses this standard, uses it in practice, and complies with it.
